Today’s card is from the The Waite-Colman Smith Deck

Seven of Cups

Seven of Cups

A dark figure stands with an outstretched hand before seven golden cups. Each cup sits nestled in one large cloud in a blue sky. Each cup overflows with a symbolic images: castles, jewels, wreaths, a snake, a bust of a woman, a figure hooded in white and some type dark twisted creature.

Too Many Choices!

This isn’t your average everyday fork in the road. This is a directional choice nightmare.  There are so many choices ahead that the ability to pick one is impossible. However! There is a way to at least narrow down the field.

First things first, throw out anything that’s too good to be true – because those things probably are.

Second, throw out anything that’s just wishful thinking and fancy pipe dreams. If the choice is “someday when I have everything in place….”  I say NAY NAY.

The third thing is to use your lifeline. Yes, call a friend and get some creative brainstorming done to assist in navigation the roads. I can guarantee they can show you some ways around your obstacles that you haven’t thought of yet!

And lastly, remember that this choice nightmare comes when we’ve hit a nice comforting structured plateau. Yes, where we are is nice, we know what to expect and we’re cruising – around in circles while progress passes us by. Meaning? Shake it up. Focus on the steps to take right now to get to that dream of success. Shake off the moss and get moving!

Blessings!

The River Queen

The River Queen

 Flow, Letting Go, Natural Movement

A mermaid sits on a rock above the waters. Her greenish skin shines in the night sky. A shell decorates her hair as she pushes back the long strands. Her chest is bound in a torn piece of blue cloth. Stars twinkle in the sky above her. She seems as peace.

The River Queen appears as an Ally in this reading. She is here to help you go with the flow. Literally. Water is one of the most powerful natural force on the planet. With time, the gentle flow of water can cut through or wear down mountains, as long is it goes where it wishes.

An old manager told me once to “be like water.” Don’t get hung up on the details or being perfect. Yes I know I’m preaching to the choir there! LOL! So we let go of all holds us in one place and fear not of drowning. The River Queen will carry us to new places that we could never have imagined!

Blessings!

Today’s card is from the

Tarot of the Journey to the Orient by Lo Scarabeo

Also known as the Marco Polo Tarot. Created by Riccardo Minetti, Severino Baraldi

Three of Swords

Three of Swords

A young boy tiptoes into someone else’s richly colored tent. Dressed a red robe and shabby trousers, he is barefoot. His face is a mask of fear as he passes a basket at the entrance. Does the basket contain snakes? Is there a trap in the tent? The boy doesn’t know. He only knows that he’s afraid.

No one likes this card. Doesn’t matter what deck it is. Everyone hates it. Why? Because this card is all about facing the pain in life – no illusions, no excuses, no running away.

Take a good look around you. Is everything really hunky dory? Are you inadvertently causing someone else pain? While you may love to get up a jog a 5 am every morning, is your door slamming or car alarm beep bothering the shift worker next door?

Yeah. That.

Add in a healthy dose of Mercury Retrograde and you’ve got yourself one giant misunderstanding that can lead to all kinds of heartache and more bad karma that you can balance in a lifetime.  And it’s all in the name of “but I didn’t know!”

Well here’s your sign. Let’s all take a moment. Take a deep breath and take a look around. You may not be able to come right out and ask if you’re ruining someone’s life –  but you can see the signs. Watch for body language, tone of voice and above all, no one talking to you about how awesome your day was.  Take some that awesome and see if can make someone else’s day brighter.

It’s a tough card to get through today – but you can do it!

Blessings!

Today’s Card is from the African American Tarot by Lo Scarabeo:

6 The Lovers

Love is in the air! Now, hold your horses. All love isn’t romance or at first sight. This card has a deeper meaning than how your next date will go.

The deities mentioned on this card are  Adriambahomanana and Andriamahilala, the first humans in Madagascar mythology. After fulfilling their divine duties, they got to choose their own after life.  Adriambahomanana chose to be a banana tree, to be reborn every spring. Andriamahilala chose to become the moon, ever in a cycle of death and rebirth.

This card also represents land, agriculture and the harvest. Adriambahomanana became a banana tree – food that sustains humans to this day. Large groves of these trees are farmed year round in the world.   Andriamahilala became the moon, a visible and repeating symbol in many cultures of the spiritual energy.

At it’s core, this card is about spiritual integrity, inner balance and the attraction of opposites – in many shapes and forms.  Seek out those who complement you in temperament and goals. With these new friendships and relationships you’ll find that inner balance you seek. Once this balance is attained, the Divine will find you worthy and offer you the reward you seek.

Blessings!

Today’s Card is from the African American Tarot by Lo Scarabeo:

4 of Wands

I’m liking where this is going!

The Spirit mentioned on this card is Anotchi – the healing protector of the Ashanti in Ghana. Not only a great magician and medicine man, he’s also a kingmaker!  He conjured a great cloud in the sky and called forth a golden chair. Anotchi commanded the chair to place itself in front of the man who would be the King of the Ashanti tribe (African Mythology, A to Z By Patricia Ann Lynch, Jeremy Robert,  pg 49).  The presence of the golden chair ensured good health, success and prosperity of all the Ashanti – as long as the chair was kept safely in the royal palace and no one allowed to sit upon it.

The African American of note on this card is Robert Smalls. Born a slave, he rose from bondage to become a ship’s pilot, sea captain, and politician. Commandeering a Confederate transport ship, the CSS Planter, he freed himself, his crew and their families in 1862 by sailing it to freedom beyond the Federal blockade.

The suit of wands represents air. In this case, the winds of the sea as we sail out to meet our fate. Those winds could also be the stirred up by the magic within ourselves and the Divine as even higher magic is worked.

In your dealings for the next week, watch for the kingmaker! Should this figure appear in your life, graciously accept the magical gift the offer – and follow their instructions to the letter. You can rise up higher that anyone ever believed with hard work and leading by example.

Blessings!

Today’s Card is from the African American Tarot by Lo Scarabeo:

 8 of Wands

For a first card, this is pretty awesome!

The orisha/spirit mentioned on this card is Eshu.  Some may know him as the infamous Papa Legba. Eshu is not only a messenger for the gods, He looks after travelers as well.  As we are riding out a bumpy retrograde of Mercury, those who are traveling may want to petition Eshu for assistance if needed!

The African American of note on this card is James Beckworth.  Born a slave of Black, Irish and English nobility descent,  his owners set him free after a lengthy battle in courts. Trained as a blacksmith,  James led an adventurous life eventually living with a Crow Band of Native Americans, becoming a business man and a professional card player.  This card shows James as he stands in the mountains of Sierra, Nevada. he is credited with discovering the Beckworth Pass a low-elevation pass and improved it to become the Beckworth Trail.

The suit of wands represents air. In this case, the breeze as we travel from place to place or the winds in the mountains.  This particular card reveals travel, unexpected developments and events as well as travel, speed and messages.

As you travel this week, be careful! Prepare for the unexpected! Your decisions may take you higher than you ever imagined!

Blessings!
